Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler was robbed of his watch during the final weekend of the 2024 regular season, his agency confirmed, and the incident is under police investigation.
KABC reported late Monday night Buehler and his wife, McKenzie, were the victims of a robbery recently at Santa Anita Park racetrack in Arcadia, above 12 miles east of Dodger Stadium. Details surrounding the robbery were released, but Excel Sports Management, which represents Buehler, said in a statement Buehler was "unknowingly" robbed during the weekend of Sept. 28-29.
"Following Walker’s final regular season start on September 27th, he and a number of other players did not travel to Colorado for the final regular season series. That weekend, Walker and his wife McKenzie, were attending horse races at Santa Anita Park. While walking from the paddock to their seats, Walker was unknowingly the victim of a snatch and grab robbery of his watch. The incident was reported to police and is currently under investigation. We are grateful Walker and McKenzie were not harmed and Walker is focused on the playoffs," the statement read.
The original report from KABC said the robbery occurred this past weekend during the MLB playoffs before it was corrected.
Buehler has a big passion for horseracing having grown up in Lexington, Kentucky. Buehler had formed a partnership with horse trainer Bob Baffert, and he convinced Buehler to purchase a share in one of his horses, Authentic, which won the 2020 Kentucky Derby.
